Saul Bass on making money vs quality work. “I want to make beautiful things, even if nobody cares.”
Kind of sounds like the long, hard, stupid way to me. Love Bass.

Tomorrow WebSense will fully be gone from my job. I’ve been blocked going on 2 years from almost every site that I used to use at my previous job. To say that I am excited for tomorrow is an understatement. Hopefully it’s not replaced with something worse though.

Logos & Grid Lines

So today this logo seemed to draw up some kind of ridiculous controversy. People calling out that the grid lines as ridiculous, a fad, that the designer needs them to justify the design, etc. Personally, I don’t really have an opinion of them, it’s a work in progress. My thoughts are, if they help the designer achieve his (or her) goal and the client is pleased with the end product, what’s the big deal over grids or not? David Pache is obviously a gifted designer with a certain knack for logos. While the grid is a little insane and may have no rhyme or reason to it, it seems to work for him and it’s nice he shares his process. I will say though, these hand drawn logos and type have to stop, that style is obviously a fad.
